Biocatalyst Interactions with Gases (BIG) Research Symposium

May 14-16
Plant Sciences Building
NC State University
840 Oval Drive,
Raleigh, NC 27606

As global challenges surrounding carbon emissions and sustainable fertilizer production intensify, innovative solutions are crucial to address these pressing issues. The Biocatalyst Interactions with Gases (BIG) Collaboration is an interdisciplinary research initiative between North Carolina State University (NC State) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This five-year program, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, is focused on developing biology-based approaches to CO₂ management and sustainable fertilizer production.

To promote knowledge sharing and foster new collaborations across the scientific community, the BIG team will host the BIG Research Symposium at NC State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, from May 14-16, 2025. The symposium will bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry leaders from around the world to explore the latest advancements in biocatalysis, gas interactions, and their applications in climate mitigation and agriculture.

Event Highlights:

  • Research Presentations & Posters: Cutting-edge findings from leading researchers in biocatalysis, gas interactions, and sustainable chemical processes.
  • Panel Discussions: Expert-led conversations on the future of CO₂ management and sustainable fertilizer production.
  • Interactive Workshops: Hands-on sessions to spark new ideas and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Laboratory Tours: Optional tours of nearby facilities for an up-close look at the innovative research being conducted.
  • Networking Opportunities: Ample time for informal discussions, collaborations, and sharing ideas with fellow participants during breaks and meals.

Join us for this exciting event at the forefront of environmental sustainability and biocatalytic research. Together, we can explore novel solutions to some of the world’s most critical challenges.
